Up-cycling

One of my favourite things to do is search charity shops for bargains, and find pieces that I can up cycle.

Last weekend, I stayed with my aunt and uncle, so my aunt, Shaza, and I upcycled a few things, then did a photo shoot!

The main thing I upcycled was a plain navy sweatshirt, that I got in a charity shop for €3.
We completely changed it, you'd never know what it used to be!

I cut off the cuffs and neck, and chopped it in half, and up the middle to make a cropped jacket. I also turned it inside out, so that the fluffy side is on the outside!

I made appliqué hearts from black and red felt, black tulle and gold trimming.

I sewed two of these onto the original neckline, to make them into epaulettes
for the shoulders

I then made triangular, black velvet cuffs, with another appliqué heart above each one.

Onto the original cuffs I sewed mis-matching buttons and more gold trimming.

Shaza had a piece if black faux fur, which she lined for me to make a fur stole.

The stole is detachable, because I really wanted one anyway, so now I can wear it with anything!

And here is the finished product!

I also took up a black velvet skirt which I got in a charity shop for €5.

Photo shoot to come!
